Shel Philips, who joined Family Business Advisers in 2010 as a Business Performance Specialist, has over 34 years experience in business system development and management, and business strategy consulting. He is an extensively experienced and goal-oriented Controller / Financial Manager with a demonstrated record of leading the preparation and analysis of financial reports to summarize and forecast financial position. This experience enables him to work efficiently and effectively as an interim Controller, filling the role, evaluating systems and processes, and documenting them in anticipation of hiring the ideal replacement. He has proven expertise in driving efficiency and productivity through evaluation of financial management systems and processes, and the implementation of process improvements.
Shel has authored nine books focused on training users how to use spreadsheets to solve accounting problems. In addition, Shel has over 10,000 hours experience in project management.
He is particularly interested in bringing his skills to bear in family businesses in the areas of business performance and business structuring. His extensive technology background also enables him to evaluate, audit and recommend technology solutions for family businesses.
